Fall Champs and Gulf Senior Champs Wrap-up 2009

The Woodlands Swim Team dominated the Fall Champs meet hosted by FCST at Magnolia HS 12/4-6.  After a Friday night cancellation due to severe weather warnings, the rest of the meet was a success for TWST, finishing first overall with an almost 200 point lead over the second place team.  There were 103 swimmers entered in this meet from TWST.

Alex Brosvik and Jacob Bradley both earned high point honors for the 9-10 age groups  and Chad Lejeune took top honors in the 13/14 boy category.  Other TWST swimmers in the top 20 included Hallie Dewlen earning 2nd place, Jules Bellamy in 6th, Ale Bremauntz tied for 12th , Alyssa Roller tied for 15th and Natalie Enriquez tied for 17th place among the 9-10 girls.  For the 9-10 boys, David Killian tied for 18th place.

In the 11-12 girls age group, Isabel Tank took 2nd, Ania Gawronska was 7th, Dany Garza tied for 13th and Gaby Fuentes tied for 17th.  On the boy’s side, Nico Restrepo was 3rd, Andres Restrepo was 11th, Tyrus Holthus tied for 12th, Max Kitzmiller took 18th and Jack Helgerson was 19th.

Erin Peebles (8th) and Katie-Li Walker (tied for 19th) represented TWST for the 13-14 girls in the top 20, while Michael Reutzel got 2nd, Ricky Mendez and Gordon Allan tied for 4th, Alex Newberry was 6th, John Sanden was 10th and Jon Griffith was tied for 13th with teammate Ryan Sorensen.

Swimmers with a 100% time improvement in each stroke they swam included Parsa Alizadeh, Anna Babcock, Kipp Bangham, Jacob Bradley, Alex Brosvik, Sierra Brown, Lauren Burgess, Alex Cela, Abrianna Dolfi, Katie Donovan, Natalie Enriquez, Maddie Flanagan, Gaby Fuentes, Celia Garcia, Florencia DeLaCadena, Ania Gawronska, Yumiko Gonzalez, John Ingalls, Alex Kaiser, Chad Lejeune, Sam Morrice, Alex Newberry, Pascale Nguyen, Erin Peebles, Erin Pfeiffer, Kendall Pohler, Mitchell Shannon, Mayada Shokeir, Josh Sorensen, Ryan Sorensen, Samantha Wright and Vivian Yu.

TWST relays scoring top three at Fall Champs included the 9-10 girl’s free relay placing 1st: Jules Bellamy, Katie Killian, Ale Bremauntz and Natalie Enriquez.  They also placed first in the medley relay with the team of Alex Brosvik, Bellamy, Alyssa Roller and Enriquez.  The 11-12 girl’s free relay also placed first with Isabel Tank, Gaby Fuentes, Bridget McGeagh and Ali Mahadeo.  The 13-14 girl’s free relay placed second with Abrianna Dolfi, Mayada Shokeir, Rachel Reese and Erin Peebles.

On the boy’s side, the 11-12 free relay took second with Nico Restrepo, Michael Sunderland, Andres Restrepo and Max Kitzmiller.  The medley relay of N Restrepo, A Restrepo, Tyrus Holthus and Josh Sorensen also took second.  There was first place finish in the 13-14 boy’s free relay with Alex Newberry, Gordon Allan, John Sanden and Chad LeJeune and a third place finish with Jon Griffith, Vincent Ray, Carter Casas and Michael Reutzel.  The medley relay of Sanden, Ricky Mendez, Ryan Sorensen and LeJeune also took top honors.

The same weekend, Senior Gulf Champs took place at College Station in the A&M Pool.  The Woodlands Swim Team finished 4th overall with 37 swimmers competing.  There were less than 50 points separating second, third and fourth place teams at this meet.  Finishing in the top twenty-five for TWST were Nicholas Munoz at 11th place, Gabriel Garcia in 17th, Evan Pohler tied for 22nd and Knox Hitt and Luke Norris tied for 24th place.  On the women’s side, Lindsay Manning took 17th place, Jennifer Reese was 20th, Allie Sorensen tied for 22nd and Megan Reutzel finished 24th.

Several swimmers had a 100% time improvement in every event they competed in, including Caden Darling, Elliott Dewlen, Milou Lammers, Graciella Layman and Evan Pohler.   The women’s 800 Free Relay placed 3rd with Lindsay Manning, Ashley Gropp, Megan Reutzel and Amy Gropp.  The men’s 400 Free Relay took 1st with Knox Hitt, Alvaro Brice, Luke Norris and Gabriel Garcia.  The 800 Free Relay was 2nd with the team of Garcia, Norris, Nicholas Munoz and Hitt.  The 400 Medley Relay was also 2nd with the team of Hitt, Evan Pohler, Garcia and Norris.

Swimming in finals at the meet for TWST:  50 Free – Allie Sorensen, Amy Gropp and Meaghan Wisenbaker.  100 Free – Ashley Gropp, Amy Gropp, Makenzie Anderson, and Jennifer Reese.  200 Free – Lindsay Manning, Megan Reutzel, Makenzie Anderson and Jennifer Reese.  500 Free – Lindsay Manning, Megan Reutzel, Ashley Lindemann.  1000 Free – Megan Reutzel, Kelsey Vetalice and Hillary Knaebel.  1650 Free – Lindsay Manning and Megan Reutzel.  100 Back – Jennifer Reese, Meaghan Wisenbaker, Makenzie Anderson and Elle Gawronska.  200 Back – Jennifer Reese, Makenzie Anderson, Milou Lammers and Jess Turney. 100 Breast – Allie Sorensen, Milou Lammers and Rebekah Porter.  200 Breast – Allie Sorensen and Milou Lammers.  100 Fly – Allie Sorensen, Meaghan Wisenbaker, Jennifer Reese, Makenzie Anderson and Ashley Lindemann.  200 Fly – Jennifer Reese and Makenzie Anderson.  400 IM – Lindsay Manning.
